INTRODUCTION

Alstom has been part of Belgian railway history for 130 years through its connection with the former rail transport equipment subsidiary of SA Ateliers de Constructions Électriques de Charleroi (ACEC). Today, Alstom Belgium employs 1100 people and is involved in approximately 100 major projects worldwide.

The site in Charleroi has developed unique expertise in electrical and electronic systems within two centres of excellence that operate at a global level : one focuses on traction systems and the other on signalling and railway traffic control systems, with a particular emphasis on equipment that complies with the European standard (European Rail Traffic Management System/ ERTMS). The teams develop systems, manufacture prototypes, perform tests and trials, complete approval procedures and manage integration projects. An after sales service activity completes the offer for these product groups. Alstom Belgium pursues an ambitious growth strategy by actively investing in R&D. The work carried out by its team of 100 research engineers makes a significant contribution to the development of a sustainable rail transport system.

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

Deploys Supplier Quality requirements in product & process development and warranty in accordance with sourcing and project organization.

Responsible to manage Quality issues if appears during the 3 first deliveries after First Article Inspection (FAI)

The Supplied Product Quality Development Engineer reports to the Operational Quality Manager.

Network & Links :

* Internal : Site Sourcing and Quality, project teams, Industrial & engineering organizations
* External: Suppliers

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Validation Product and Process associated

* Responsible at tender phase to communicate and validate quality specifications and Quality product file (Supplier Product Quality Development plan (SPQD plan) in anticipation with suppliers.
* Manage the comparison matrix (the Supplier Quality Status (SQS)) phase till the Business Award in coordination with sourcing, validate the relevant waivers.
* Perform SPQD plan by setting-up relevant action plan all along the product / process development to reach Supplier FAI Go on time.
* Apply the Design For Quality (DFQ) process and validate each milestone for external subsystems.
* Responsible to perform the handover with Supplier Quality Assurance Engineers and Professionals.
* Manage warranty issues linked to suppliers in collaboration with Project warranty responsible.

1. Management, performances and reporting

* Inform Supplier Product Quality Development manager, Sourcing, Industrial and Engineering / Projects entities about the main issues, increment Return On Experience (ROE).
* Report about his activity manages his indicators (example visual management).
* Participate in the management of yellow supplier's status.
* For 'trusted' suppliers: perform Return Of experience (REX) analysis, share it with all stakeholders and support Trusted program.

1. Contribute to continuous improvement program

* Propose good practices.
* Contribute to Alstom Production System (APSYS) Supplier Project Quality Development roadmap.

Qualifications & Skills:

EDUCATION

* Graduated from Technical or Master Degree level or equivalent
* '3 to 5 years' experience in Supplier Quality Project or Production,
* Production management, Engineering or Industrial

COMPETENCIES & EXPERIENCE

* In connection with the Quality & Continuous Competencies Matrix.
* Good Knowledge of products and Services.
* Problem Solving Methodology QRQC.
* Collaborative.
* Persuasive and motivating people.
* Fluent in English

LOCATION & MOBILITY
* Charleroi Site (Belgium) & frequent travel to Supplier plants.
