Senior Transport Specialist, International Project Manager

JOIN OUR GLOBAL ADVISORY - POLICY, PLANNING AND INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT - IN BRUSSELS (BELGIUM) OR LYNGBY (DENMARK) 

Global Advisory provides project management support, financial and economic analyses as well as policy studies to international organisations and financing institutions within the sectors of green transition, environment, energy, transport, and climate action. We provide high quality advice to our customers because we build on the solid technical expertise of our consulting engineer business, which counts more than 8,000 employees worldwide.

You will become part of the Transportation team in the Policy, Planning and Infrastructure Development department. The Transportation team counts around 10 skilled experts who support our customers in making decisions for tomorrow. We work with policy development, planning, impact assessments, and decisionmaking within transportation, infrastructure development, and sustainable mobility. For this position, the focus will be on national plans and policies, project analyses, sustainable mobility, green transport, and public transport.

DESIGN THE FUTURE TOGETHER WITH A GLOBAL TEAM OF EXPERTS

In this position, you will work together with a team of consultants dedicated to providing high quality consultancy services to our international clients and work closely with the Market Directors of the Transportation team. Your key task will be to manage projects and proposals, primarily for the EC and EIB. We expect that you will be based in our office in Brussels (Belgium) or in Lyngby (Denmark).

On a day-to-day basis, you will:

  • Manage projects and proposals driven by the need for sustainable mobility and transport capacity to deal with economic development in a resource-efficient way e.g. linked to the European Green Deal agenda for our key EU Clients (mainly DG MOVE), the European Investment Bank, and other IFIs
  • Manage teams of consultants to deliver high-quality deliverables to our clients
  • Design methodologies, supervise and quality assure client deliverables
  • Perform transport studies and manage TA contracts in transport 
  • Manage and develop client relations and collaborations across several partners
  • Economics and financing are inherent in much of what we do. This relates for example to cost benefit analysis of policies and measures, transport behavior, technology development and technology market uptake as well as assessment of financing needs, funding measures and financial instruments, and financial assessment of infrastructure and investment projects.

    To succeed in this position, you should be a team player with strong project management and coordination skills. You know how to ensure alignment between the client's success criteria and the deliverables produced. Moreover, you have strong team leadership and communication skills and a keen eye for business.

    Furthermore, you should:

  • Hold a degree as Economist or traffic planner with practical experience in applying economic analysis in both a policy and project analysis context 
  • Have at least 7 to 10 years of experience in international consulting and at least five years of experience as a project manager or team leader in a consultancy company
  • Experience in the areas of transport in line with the services described, including traffic planning with a focus on decision support analysis and strategic planning
  • Experience with consultancy services to the European Commission, and preferably also IFIs such as EIB and/or the World Bank
  • Experience in working with the EC Better Regulation Guidelines is an advantage 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, and proven ability to deliver consultancy reports to international clients 
  • It is an advantage if you also master other European languages, besides English
