Senior Principal Supply Chain Distribution/Warehousing Industrial Engineer

SUMMARY: Responsible for developing and implementing operation excellence standards in the distribution centers, develop and implement the latest warehouse automation technologies throughout the Global Distribution network, optimize the process flows within the “4-walls” of the warehouses and drive a continuous improvement culture in the regional operations. Collaborate with different regions and manage the sharing of best practices around the world.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Develop a ‘best in class’ warehouse benchmark to measure DC productivity and costs and be able to initiate continuous improvement projects and reduce overall cost of operations.
  • Drive various Engineering studies across the regions to optimize the process flows to improve productivity and warehouse space configuration to improve space utilization.
  • Support regional operations teams in executing improvement ideas and track savings impact. Act as a liaison in sharing successful ideas and best practices on processes between distribution centers and regions.
  • Collaborate with regional leaders in evaluating latest automation technologies and developing a solution that optimizes the DC throughput, improves quality and overall operations.
  • Support global distribution teams in running the ‘Should Cost’ model during warehouse RFP process and also while evaluating cost performance of existing DCs.
  • Day in the Life

  • Conducts strategic supply chain analysis to foster a continuous improvement environment.
  • Identifies and recommends opportunities for improving efficiency, effectiveness, and capabilities of the supply chain.
  • Develops and implements models, strategies and/or processes to optimize the supply chain function.
  • Conducts and/or manages strategic supply chain analysis.
  • Coordinates and integrates the flow of materials and information among suppliers, manufacturers, distributors and customers.
  • Sources, orders, supplies and delivers competitively priced raw materials, component parts and/or finished goods.
  • Develops plans related to volume and demand.
  • Takes responsibility for master scheduling, buyer analyses, order management, production scheduling, marketing logistics, customer fulfillment, and inventory management.
  • Identifies and recommends opportunities for improving efficiency, effectiveness, and capabilities of the supply chain.
  • Develops and implements supply chain designs, models, strategies and/or processes to improve the business.

    Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Requires a University Degree and minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience
  • Nice to Have

    EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • Deep expertise in lean methodology and Kaizen/ continuous improvement principles within distribution and warehouse operations.
  • Expertise in warehouse time standards, productivity benchmarks, and labor management methods.
  • Experience in warehouse flow design, automation technologies and space optimization.
  • Knowledge on different storage methods and material handling equipment.
  • Familiarity with development of warehouse cost models, RFP process with 3PLs.
  • A significant amount of experience in process improvements projects and Lean 6-sigma principles.
  • OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Broad background and experience in Distribution (preferably medical device). In depth understanding of operations administration functions including finance, IT, quality and regulatory, among others.
