Senior Manager, Direct Materials Procurement

The role holder will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring Incoming Material defined Supply Chains for products from Phase II onwards are robust and competitive and enable successful product launches
  • Designing and implementing strategies for the Procurement of Incoming Materials that support the Vaccine Products commercial and manufacturing strategies by securing value across the end-to-end Value Chain
  • These objectives will require partnership and alignment with a large number of groups: Technical R&D, Product Teams, Sites, Quality, Supply Chain and Global Procurement categories to define business requirements for a world class supply base for both pipeline and commercial products:

  • Innovation: Contribute to product pipeline through supplier sourced innovation
  • Performance and Cost: Improve cost and margin via Portfolio Optimization, Gross margin improvement, etc.
  • Trust and Supply Chain Resilience: Support market access through strategic supplier sourcing and/or supply chain robustness and flexibility
  • You will accelerate value creation delivery by supporting the identification, decision making and delivery of opportunities in the organization.

    Identify, support and help drive Portfolio Optimization, Cost Savings and Value engineering opportunities through leading cost workshops, product tear downs, driving projects across matrix teams, etc.

    Apply problem solving capabilities to the supply base, Incoming Materials and associated processes and drive suggestions for improvement.

    Lead key stakeholders in the business (Technical R&D, MSAT, Product Leads, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, Commercial...) and in Procurement at a senior level to obtain support and buy-in for key procurement strategies.

    Develop Communication plan to engage with relevant stakeholder and Procurement teams and build ways of working to ensure alignment and prioritization of major Value Engineering opportunities.

    Ensure smooth handover between either Regional or Commodity Procurement Teams at the appropriate time and optimize the deployment of Procurement Excellence and de-risking programme through the launch of new products/projects.

    Lead the Procurement risk strategy for Vaccines Incoming Materials, in collaboration with internal stakeholders and Procurement Category Teams

  • Responsible for ensuring the relevant Supply and Commercial strategies and requirements are embedded at the appropriate Stage Gate of the Product development process

  • Identify, support and help drive Portfolio Optimization, Cost Savings and Value engineering opportunities through leading cost workshops, product tear downs, driving projects across matrix teams

  • Define strategy and targets aligned with opportunities to deliver transformational value for the Manufacturing / Commercial organization.

  • Contribute to the definition and execution of a risk management strategy for Incoming Materials

    Basic Qualifications:

    We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Master Degree in Procurement/ Supply Chain/ Engineering/ Science/ Business/ Finance

  • Minimum 5 years of Procurement experience across multiple categories of spend

  • Experience in Pharmaceutical sector or highly regulated environments

  • Experience in Manufacturing Procurement or R&D

  • Good knowledge of procurement tools such as sourcing, quotation analysis, contract negotiation, supplier review, supplier development and others

  • Demonstrable team leadership and ability to motivate and inspire colleagues, and work in partnership with others to drive, implement and support change

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills – fluent English.

  • Preferred Qualifications:

    If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Good knowledge of finance (cost benchmark & financial audit with key supplier) and legal matters (contracting)

  • Demonstrable significant risk management expertise

  • Problem solving: Ability to conduct robust RCA on systemic issues and seek support (site / above site) to get sustainable solution to prevent issue re-occurrence.

  • Influencing: Ability to positive influence peers, stakeholders, and higher management to implement projects/ initiatives that benefit the company.

  • Analytical skills : Ability to access / locate information in multiple locations / sources, and conduct pro-active analytics to identify trends / synergies

  • Knowledge of Six & Lean Sigma, OE Capability Knowledge. Ability to apply to the supply base where necessary

  • Strategic thinking: Constantly looking for an out of box innovative ways to optimize and do things differently / better

  • Technical understanding of supply base manufacturing processes; ability to understand complex technical product issues within FMCG and/or Pharma
