Job vacancy – Project Manager
EXPRA (EXTENDED PRODUCER RESPONSIBILITY ALLIANCE), founded in 2013, is the alliance for 27 packaging and packaging waste recovery and recycling systems from 25 countries which are owned by the obliged industry and work on a not-for-profit basis. EXPRA acts as the common voice and policy platform representing the interests of all its member packaging recovery and recycling organizations founded and run by or on behalf of obliged industry.
EXPRA’s members have set themselves the task of relieving industrial companies and commercial enterprises of their individual obligation to take back used sales packaging through the operation of a scheme which fulfills these obligations on a nation-wide basis on behalf of their member companies. The aim is to ensure the recovery and recycling of packaging waste in the most economically efficient but also ecologically sound manner. Apart from requiring the co-ordination and alignment of individual member positions, the task of safeguarding common interests involves the projection of a coherent, unified policy and image to the outside world.
Extended Producer Responsibility has evolved into a proven concept in many countries. Industry in more than 40 countries all over the world are using producer responsibility as one economic tool to ensure the collection and recycling / recovery of used (household) packaging. EPR is currently been established in several areas around the world and therefore developing to a global concept; in the European Union new legislation for EPR has currently to be implemented in all Member States. Remaining in close contact with members and gathering data and evidence remains crucial for both understanding the new EPR landscape, facing future regulatory reviews and preparing comparative compilations and studies. Such data will be valuable for industry as well as of the EU decision-makers.
This means on one side that EXPRA has to work internally with its members by organizing around 16 working group meetings and 4 workshops, 4 board meetings and 2 General Assemblies per year, collecting information and data from members for studies and for communication purposes but on the other side focusing on its external activity by organizing and attending conferences, delivering positions especially to EU institutions, developing content for internal and external use, answering inquiries from members, obliged industry and authorities etc.
As workload has increased and will further increase, EXPRA is now looking for a person to join its team ASAP.
