Product Application Engineer Magics

You are the software product expert who serves as the link between the end users and the product development team. You define and design the product functionalities and look and feel. You are responsible for translating market/customer/user needs into requirements for software development. You assist the product manager in the analysis of business viability of possible features or developments. You prepare documentation for the software development teams about these features, to assure a clear understanding on what should be implemented in the next software product. On the other side you are responsible for the beta validation of the products and the support for marketing and sales roll-out.
1. Functional analysis: You are responsible for documenting functional (design) specifications ensuring the development team has a detailed understanding of expected deliverables. Together with the product manager you discuss these specification with the development team. The Voice of the customer is key in this process.
2. Support: You are responsible for giving support to customers when they have technical questions about the software. You are usually involved in second line support and are backup for first line support.
3. Training: You are given opportunities to provide high level demonstration of the software, as well as in depth technical training to internal as well as external users of the software. This requires becoming an expert in the software, understanding customer workflows and suggesting best practices to the end users.
4. Goto market support: You assist in the preparation of sales kits and communicating the advantages and key selling points to our sales channels. You are responsible for documenting new changes in "what's new" presentations for software users and customers. You provide assistance in the creation of marketing cases and videos as the technical expert.
5. Internal roll-out and training of new software: You are responsible to make sure our internal users are informed about new releases and make the upgrade. Also update trainings should be provided.
6. Business analysis: You are responsible for analyzing and documenting customer and market needs and identifying business advantages of solving those needs which can be used to support the product manager in the decision making process (business cases).
You seek input on market needs through discussions with the product manager, end users and other key Materialise employees.
You are responsible for analyzing and defining user requirements to ensure all stakeholders have a clear view on the problem or need to be answered.
7. Optional Product owner role (cfr. scrum terminology): Under the supervision of the Product Manager, you are the first point of contact for the development team. You provide the development team with priorities on functional requirements level (TFS). You ensure a smooth execution of projects can be guaranteed.
8. Ensure you gather a knowledge about our software products, the product management approach and are well informed about the evolutions and developments related to additive manufacturing. You are responsible for executing and documenting competitive analysis.
9. You are given opportunities to work on customer data to suggest best results to the customer, and find optimized flows in their currently used software and Materialise software. This helps users benchmark the value of our software with competition.

Requirements

* You have experience as a Functional Analyst or Product Application Engineer;
* You have experience with simulation (Finite Element Analysis);
* You are able to map and analyze competitor products;
* You combine an interest in innovative technologies and 3D design with understanding complex processes;
* You have affinity with software;
* You are well organized, team oriented and communicative;
* You are willing to travel occasionally;
* You have very good communication skills in English;
