Procurement Associate - Import

We are currently looking for a Procurement Associate , with the ambition to potentially grow into a Teamleader role after some time . As part of the Procurement team you are responsible for managing and improving the procurement activities for a group of suppliers based in China and across Asia. In this role you will be the primary contact for operational issues between our suppliers, import carriers and Avantor Customer Service and Warehouse teams.


  • Creation and management of purchase orders with supplier based in China and Asia.
  • Expediting and follow-up of purchase orders with these suppliers to ensure on-time delivery
  • Manage the daily contacts with our import carriers
  • Follow-up of supplier delivery performance via set KPI’s
  • Responding to internal customer enquiries
  • Support the development of systems and processes to improve customer service and reduce costs.
  • Query resolution on goods inwards issues, supplier invoice and acknowledgment discrepancies
  • Key interface between the warehouse, Customer Service and our external supply base

  • Degree level preferable in a Supply Chain or related subject, or experience within import.
  • Excellent knowledge of Dutch and English (both written and spoken). Additional languages would be a benefit.
  • You are able to work with Microsoft office with a strong focus on excel.
  • You have a good attention to detail.
  • Flexible approach to work tasks depending on business needs.
  • Be able to work in a team environment to agreed targets, but also to work independently.
  • Self-motivated with good interpersonal skills
  • Have the ability to build mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers and internal customers.
