At least 70% of your assignment will be spent on academic research.
Within the Polymer Chemistry Research Group of UGent, you will work on the synthesis, characterization and valorization of dynamic polymer materials, more specifically covalent adaptable networks, aimed for the preparation of recyclable thermoset materials in the area of composites and reversible adhesives.
You are expected to do lab work yourself (at least 50% of the allocated time) and to follow-up several scientific projects, the main one being the project ReSet (Moonshot) on recyclable thermosets.
You will guide other scientific coworkers of the PCR-group.
You will regularly be involved in reporting and article writing, and will be asked to give support to potential patent applications.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
You hold a thesis-based doctorate in polymer chemistry (obtained max. 6 years ago. This term of 6 years is determined by the date written on the above-mentioned required diploma), supported by a significant track record of peer-reviewed publications in high impact polymer and general chemistry journals.
You have interest in scientific and project based research, more specifically in the area of polymer chemistry and polymer material research.
Applicants must be very well acquainted with the molecular characterization of novel small organic molecules and polymers.
Apart from scientific qualifications, we seek highly motivated and self-learning candidates with excellent communication and writing skills in English.
Guidance and mentorship of undergraduate and/or PhD students as well as good interpersonal and collaborative skills are required.
Track record of regular active participation to international scientific conferences.
Track record of guiding other researchers in polymer chemistry related topics.
WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU
We offer you a contract with a maximum term of 18 months 1
Your contract will start on 1/05/2020 at the earliest.
