Maintenance & Operations Services Engineer (Railway / Signalling)

Alstom is the leader in signalling on board "ERTMS" systems and has to provide a world class after sales service to its various customers worldwide. In that perspective Alstom Belgium is building up a back-office technical team (maintenance & operations Services Engineers) in order to provide to the customers technical expertise and on the field troubleshooting during commissioning (in support of the team in place), warranty and maintenance activities. The Maintenance & Operations Services Engineer will intervene on all "train borne" signaling projects led by Alstom Belgium in Enrope, Africa and middle East. Hierarchical reporting : Head of Warranty Management Functional reporting : Integrated Logistic Support Manager (Engineering division), Provide back office and on the field support for trouble shooting of signaling systems and/or traction and auxiliary systems mainly for rolling stock. - The back office tasks consist in: o Analyzing logs and other relevant information coming from the field in order to remotely support the front office technicians to solve/repair quickly failures on signaling or rolling stock systems that are affecting their availability. o Based on the return of experience coming from the field, interact with the people in charge of the systems/products design and the ILS colleagues in order to improve the maintainability and the troubleshooting guides of the systems/products in question. o Analyze and respond to spot customer requests in relation to operation, practical maintainability and/or availability/reliability issues. o Analyze the root cause of failures and put in evidence any trend of endemic/epidemic failure that might be rising on a system or a product within its operational environment. Identify, propose, and verify corrective actions to prevent further recurrence of the failure. o Support the internal repair technicians for any complex repair that needs a system/product analysis for putting in evidence the failure modes. - When the remote assistance has not conducted in putting the product/system back into operation, the on the field tasks consist in a second level of expertise in : o The analysis of the relevant information available on the field including the operations environment in order to solve/repair the failure within a given timeframe (24h-72h) and a geographical area (mainly Europe) in order to put the product/system back into operation. o The support of the customers in their system/product's uses and identify the root cause of failures especially when it is related to the interfaces with the rolling stock and/or with the infrastructure. MAIN RESPONSABILITIES - Customer satisfaction based on the reaction time to solve any issue from notification. - The Quality of the Return of Experience in order to improve the reliability and the maintainability of the Alstom systems/products. - Respect of the QCD (Quality Cost Delay) objectives defined.

Educational Requirements : Master's degree in engineering (preferably electronics or embedded systems) or equivalent experience - Desired Knowledge / Experience : o A few years of experience in rolling stock Onboard systems. o Excellent capability and experience in trouble shooting of electronic devices o Experience in safety systems is an asset Behavioural Skills / Competencies - Customer satisfaction and results orientated - Ability to use new technologies and tools. - To have patience, with an analytic way of thinking in order to solve complex system failures - Team Player and rigorous - Able to communicate in an open an clear manner with various stakeholders - Flexibility and mobility: Job based in Charleroi with frequent short term travels (sometime planned in the emergency) mainly in Europe. - Able to perform the global reporting of the activity. - Driving license (B). - BA5 and VCA certifications are an asset. Technical Skills & Competencies - Good knowledge in English and French language (spoken, read, written). -Any other additional language with a preference for German, Dutch or Italian is an asset
