be directly supporting projects receiving external funding during the project lifecycle, focusing on the project-specific requirements and contractual commitments as agreed with Government Agencies, NGOs or other non-profit organizations.
shaping, building, applying, sustaining and continuously improving project management foundations to support flawless execution of external funding through Contracts & Grants with Government and Non-Government Agencies.
As a CGPM, you will actively contribute to establishing and coordinating a peak performing External Funding Team. Main tasks and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Facilitate and coordinate project execution by monitoring progress against deliverables, milestones, and contract commitments so these can be achieved on time and within budget.
Specific Deliverables are depending on Contract or Grant Type but may include: Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), Project Plans and Schedules, Risk Management Plan/Risk Register, Earned Value Management Reporting, Technical Reporting, Time Reporting, Contract Modifications and Subcontracting
Continuously reconcile project strategy with smooth project execution by monitoring intra-project interdependencies with an eye for the bigger picture while keeping attention to detail.
Prepare and organize cross-functional project meetings with that common goal in mind
Establish and manage the path, by navigating project teams through government requirements ensuring a smooth and flawless project execution
Prepare, organize and facilitate communication to appropriate Funding Authorities
Facilitate project dissemination by swiftly navigating the project team through the appropriate communication reviews and approval cycles
Proactively guide the teams to reflect on the need to sustain project outcomes after the project life and provide support in the development and implementation of a sustainability plan with all stakeholders involved.
Create and manage a high performing team culture – be an advocate for positive team behavior to effectively overcome project hurdles. To this end facilitate, coordinate and optimize team communication
Establish connections and networks for continuous learning and improvement by demonstrating appreciation for innovative and diverse points of view
Combine subject matter expertise with an innovative mindset to continuously improve the execution of Contract and Grants at Janssen
Develop and maintain a process for proactive identification of risk and opportunity to optimize project value
Manage and coordinate project related documentation and information to ensure full compliance and audit-readiness in the most efficient way possible
Identify and manage stakeholder & team needs and expectations
Communicate professionally at all levels and by using the right medium and with the right level of information
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required
An advanced degree (i.e. MS, MBA, PharmD, PhD, etc.) in Pharmaceutical, life sciences, or related fields is highly preferred
Professional project management certification or degree is a plus
At least 3 years of industry/business experience, including at least 1 year in pharmaceutical R&D is required.
A working knowledge of the drug discovery and/or drug development process is required.
Prior experience with external funding mechanisms, in particular with the US Government, is a plus.
Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams in a matrix environment, resolve conflict, and influence teams without formal authority, is required.
Successful experience managing or leading global and/or virtual teams is highly desirable, especially if done within a matrix organization
