Dow Construction Chemicals is proposing solutions based on different chemistries (Cellulose ethers, acrylics, silicone) to improve construction materials. This can range from cement based, gypsum based or even wood. Dow Construction Chemicals is developing new innovative solutions to improve durability, appearance or ease of manufacturing of construction materials. Dow Construction Chemicals has labs in Germany, Swiss and Belgium, which offer the opportunity to interact and collaborate with colleagues in other countries.
The goal of the proposed project is to support and drive our expansion of silicone and acrylic additives for the construction materials. In collaboration with the Dow Construction chemical team, formulation work is conducted in the European R&D lab (Seneffe with collaboration with labs located in Germany and Swiss). This project includes formulation work of silicone or acrylic-based water repellents for construction application as well as application testing on different construction materials to confirm the performance of the prototypes.
You are currently studying for a Master's Degree or equivalent in Chemistry of Material Science.
You have a good working knowledge of English. French would be helpful as well, but not mandatory.
You have an interest in product development work (new product, new application), Safety is our top priority. Other desired attributes are critical thinking, troubleshooting and organization. An individual contributor that is also a good team player is required. The candidate should demonstrate a passion for chemistry and applying innovative ideas to real application, real world.
You can start between August-September or January-February (although this is flexible) for a period of > 4 months (exact timing to be discussed).
