Boiler Expert

GENERATION EUROPE BU (BU GEN) is responsible for the management and operation of ENGIE thermal generation activities in Europe (including natural gas, coal, biomass, large-scale Combined Heat Power assets). With a workforce of 2,400 people, the business unit operates about 28 GW on 75 sites across 11 countries (Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain and the United Kingdom). Our organization is structured into four (4) clusters: Gas Benelux, Gas France & South Europe, Coal and European Maintenance Support (EMS) . To meet the challenges of the energy transition, the ambition of BU GEN is, on the one hand, to be a trustable and reliable support to renewables based on the flexibility of our fleet, at a low cost and with an acceptable CO2 footprint. On the other hand, based on our strong technical expertise, to serve major industrial customers as a supplier of integrated energy and services solutions. In this perspective, our teams are committed to optimize continuously our generation fleet and to bring to market the most competitively priced energy and services one can find by making offers in mature commodity markets and providing ancillary services to transmission system operators in order to capture additional value. As part of EMS Equipment Solutions, the Boiler, BOP and CHP Engineering is the Equipment Group providing expertise and long term maintenance strategies for Boilers, main Balance of Plant equipment and Cogeneration solutions, in order to deliver added value for Engie internal power plants and external customers of Engie. The mission of the Boiler Expert (M/F) within the Boiler/BoP/CHP Engineering team is to: * build up knowhow in the field of Boiler (HRSG and fired boiler) technology, Boiler maintenance and Boiler technology in order to become a reference in this domain inside and outside ENGIE * support both ENGIE and non-ENGIE sites and clients in the field of Boiler maintenance and relevant operations aspects * conduct Life Time Assessments on Boilers and identify and quantify the risks and propose mitigation measures and/or potential improvements/modifications * initiate and elaborate improvement projects on Boilers, propose them to the customer and realize them, all based upon technical-economical analysis * conduct root-cause analyses in collaboration with different internal and external stakeholders * define corrective and preventive actions in case of incidents or non-conformities observed during outages * carry out in the field boiler assessments (e.g.: visual inspections, boroscopic inspections, …) * play a key role in the preparation, execution and consolidation of Boiler outages: + definition of scope, contracting of work packages + technical follow-up in close collaboration with the project leader (including fact-finding and addressing of non-conformities) + reporting * develop and maintain long-term Boiler Maintenance strategies * play an essential role in the development and consolidation of Boiler know-how by driving internal REX processes and through participation to internal and external networks Organization / Reporting line: * the Boiler Expert will be part of the Boiler/BoP/CHP Engineering team within the Equipment Solutions Department of EMS * he/she will report to the Head of Boiler/BoP/CHP Engineering

* you hold a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent by experience * you have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the domain of Boilers & Balance of Plant, i.e. process and equipment-related know-how as well as their degradation mechanisms (at least five years of experience). * experience in the Power Industry, Process Industry or Boiler Design is a plus. * technology in a broad sense fascinates you and you pursue a long-term career in expertise and engineering. * you have very strong analytical, reporting and communication skills * you can work autonomously and enjoy responsibility * you are a team player and like interaction with various stakeholders; EMS colleagues, power plant staff, service provider personnel, insurers, etc. * you have the ability to place a technical problem in a broader context, taking into account specific financial and strategic parameters * multilingual; working knowledge of French and English is a must, knowledge of Dutch is a plus * you are based in Belgium, but you are mobile and flexible; * you are willing to spend about 35% of working time abroad for mainly short mission .
