Engineer Consultant Jobs

Engineer consultants do a wide range of jobs, depending on the industry they work in and their core specialization.

In general, engineer consultants are licensed professionals with wide-ranging qualifications, including civil, mechanical, computer science, electrical and more. Depending on their specialization, they work in a particular industry.

These consultant engineers work in a client's place for a certain period of time, but they are not employees of that client. They are called to give their expertise to solve difficult problems or for very specialized implementations.  In other words, these engineers are called when there is a necessary and are paid for their expert opinions and implementations.

Many engineer consultants prefer to be a part of consulting companies while others are freelance consultants. If you're a part of a company, you get a regular salary and it is the company's responsibility to find projects for you when your current assignment ends. But the downside is, these companies take a share of the revenue you generate from the client.

In the case of a freelance consultant, you get to keep the entire money, but you have to do your own marketing and find new projects when your current one ends.  Also, your income may not be steady, as you'll make more in some projects and less in others. The good side with freelancing is, you have a ton of flexibility to balance your life.

Depending on your personal preferences, you can choose the option that works best for you.
